Clarke County Sheriff Bill Kerns is alerting Clarke County Citizens there are a number of different scams going around the county.

An example of a scam is “your grandchild is in some far off area and in need of money for bond.”

Citizens are also being asked to send in money, and they will receive coupons for groceries and/or medical-alert devices.

Kerns warned, if you did not order something or if the deal seems too good to be true, it is most likely someone trying to get money from you.

People must be careful and not give out bank numbers, social security numbers or any information in reference to relatives. Basically, just hang up the phone.

The longer a person talks, the more likely they will accidentally give information that could possibly cost them.
