Clarke girls golf third at Winterset Invite

The Clarke girls golf team finished third at Saturday's Winterset Invitational, shooting a team score of 448.

Carroll edged out Norwalk for the team title by a 398-402 margin. Winterset finished fourth with a score of 462, ahead of Chariton in fifth at 479 and Van Meter in sixth at 513.

Carroll's Megan Worley won the individual title with a round of 93. Norwalk's Rachel Weber finished second with a round of 96.

Kimberly Eddy led the Lady Indians, shooting an 18-hole score of 100. Courtney Clark finished with a round of 107 and Jordyn Wright shot a score of 108. Samantha Stickels finished with a 133 and Nicole Clark golfed a 136.

Saturday's tournament at Winterset came on the heels of the Clarke girls playing a shortened six-hole event on April 9 at Creston/Orient-Macksburg.

The Lady Indians edged out Winterset, 150-151, in the team race on a cold, rainy and windy day. Creston/O-M did not have enough athletes to compile a team score.

Creston/O-M's Madison Hance won medalist honors with her round of 32. Clarke's Jordyn Wright finished runner-up with a round of 33.

Kimberly Eddy added a round of 36 for the Lady Indians, while Courtney Clark added a 39. Darian Short shot a 42 and Nicole Clark finished with a 43. Samantha Stickels shot a 50 for Clarke.

Boys

The Clarke boys finished third at the Creston/O-M triangular, finishing with a team score of 213. Creston/O-M won the meet with a score of 166, while Winterset shot a team score of 177.

Carson Whittington of Creston/O-M won medalist honors with a round of 3-over par 39, while Christian Groumoutis of Creston/O-M took runner-up honors with his round of 39.

Mitch Lampe led the Indians with a round of 48. Garrett Nelson shot a round of 54 and Gable Reece finished at 55. Reed Kale shot a round of 56. Cody Kjellsen shot a 61 and Caleb Grimm finished with a 70.

For the Clarke JV team, Weston Brokaw shot a team-best round of 58. Jerrod Coe finished at 69, while Jerod Wright shot a 73 and Damon Helgevold finished with a 76. Lane Carson golfed a round of 86.

The Clarke golfers return to action on Friday when both teams return to Creston.
