CD boys fall to Mount Ayr

MOUNT AYR — The weather for Monday's golf meet here between the Mount Ayr Raiders and the Central Decatur Cardinals wasn't ideal, with temperatures dipping below 40 degrees and strong wind gusts.

The Raiders defeated the weather and the Cardinals in boys competition, winning by a 185-218 score.

Central Decatur's Noah Simon won medalist honors with a 1-over par 36. Mount Ayr's Quency Vos finished runner-up with a round of 44.

Dalton Rhum added a round of 56 for the Cardinals. Connor Welsh finished with a round of 62, Clayton Dale shot a 64 and Alberto Reyes shot a round of 65.

The Central Decatur girls team finished with a team score of 230. Mount Ayr, with just two golfers, did not have enough athletes to compile a team score.

Mount Ayr's Caitlin Giles won medalist honors with a round of 48, while Central Decatur's Kate Havens finished runner-up with a round of 55.

Also scoring for Central Decatur were Hannah Mendenhall with a round of 56, Sadie Greene with a 58 and Lydia Martin finished with a round of 61. Ciera Clark shot a round of 68 and Annalise Minnick finished with a 73.

Central Decatur hosts East Union and Earlham on Monday.
