Michael Douglass, 20, of Garden Grove died April 5, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, after a car accident in rural Clarke County.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. The Rev. Clegguart Mitchell officiated. Burial was in Garden Grove Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
Michael Lewis Douglass, son of Racheal Lea Whitham and Michael Wayne Douglass, was born March 31, 1993, in Corydon.
Michael grew up in Garden Grove and graduated from Mormon Trail High School in 2011.
Michael was currently employed with Salford Inc. of Osceola as a welder for farm equipment manufacturing.
He was also a new member of the Garden Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
Michael is survived by his father Mike Douglass of Garden Grove; brothers, Micah Allen Lutz of Kokomo, Ind., and Bradley Eugene Douglass of Garden Grove; mother Racheal Whitham and Jeff Murphy, and Jeff’s sons David and Cody Murphy of Garden Grove; grandmother Lelia Douglass of Garden Grove; grandparents, Tommy and Sherry Whitham of Cambria; great-grandfather Orlo Alexander of Melcher; aunts and uncles, Belinda (husband Chuck) Adkins of Humeston, Brenda (husband Phil) Hendricks of Cicero, Ind., Robin (husband Don) Reed of Abilene, Texas, Joe (wife Julie) Douglass of Independence, Kan., and Teresa Hampton and Nick Loew of Corydon; Michael’s fiancé Chelsea Nekvinda of Corydon; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather Dave Douglass and uncles, Patrick Douglass and Jason Whitham.
