Kenneth (Ken) Gilbert, age 69 of Osceola, Iowa and formerly of Van Wert, Iowa, son of Elmer Gilbert and Lorene Audry (McConnell) Gilbert, was born October 24th, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life on Saturday April 6, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Ken was united in marriage to Juanita Marie Lane on November 23, 1963. Together they spent most of their lives in the trucking business. Ken retired from Gilbert Trucking and he and Juanita moved to India for several years to help the less fortunate. It was a very rewarding time for them. They settled in Osceola upon their return.
Preceding Ken in death were his children; Brad, Toni and infant daughter Kimberly; sister and brother in-law Gloria & Don McClure; parents Elmer & Lorene Gilbert, mother and father in-law Clem & Coy Lane; sister in-laws Neva, Izola, Eva & Viola; brother in-laws Clayton, Don & Larry.
Ken leaves to cherish his memory; His beloved wife of 49 years, Juanita Gilbert; Grandson Bradley Gilbert; daughter in-law Julie Gilbert-Moore; sisters Connie (Gail) Clausen, Karen (Gary Allard) Defenbaugh; brother Glen (Shirley) Gilbert; brother in-law Miles (Gwin) Lane as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Ken couldn’t have been a better husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by everyone.
