Laurel Kellar, 59, of Decatur died March 22, 2013, at Decatur County Hospital in Leon, after a long battle with cancer.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. today, March 28, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. The Rev. Dale Short officiated. Burial was in Decatur Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established by the family.
Laurel Elizabeth Kellar, daughter of Glenna Marie (Burkhart) and Harold Chatfield Graves, was born Aug. 30, 1953, in Des Moines.
Laurel grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Tech High School.
On Feb. 20, 1976, Laurel married Dennis William Kellar Sr. in Des Moines.
Laurel was a homemaker. The family also lived in Osceola.
Laurel worked alongside her husband in a cleaning company business for a number of years.
For the past 10 years, Laurel and Dennis have made their home in Decatur.
Laurel is survived by her husband Dennis Kellar of Decatur; son Dennis Kellar Jr. of Des Moines; daughter Stephanie (husband Braden) Salcido of San Diego, Calif.; mother Glenna Graves of Des Moines; brothers, Charles (wife Jean) Graves of Waterloo and William (wife Robin) Graves of Milwaukee, Wis.; aunt Louise McKearney of West Des Moines; neighbors and friends, Dale and Susie Short of Decatur; and other relatives and friends.
Laurel was preceded in death by her father and brother Darrell Graves.
