Gladys Wallace, 96, of Chariton died March 20, 2013, at Sunnybrook Living Care in Fairfield.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. The Rev. Charles McCracken officiated. Interment was in Chariton Cemetery. Online

Gladys Evelyn Wallace, daughter of Thomas Bruce and Evelyn Herron Campbell, was born May 17, 1916, in Chariton.
Gladys was a graduate of Chariton High School and Drake University. She taught before her marriage in the rural schools of Lucas and Warren counties. Later she taught at Van Wert, Clarke Community and Chariton schools.
In October 1937, Gladys married Robert Wallace. They resided on a farm near Weldon and moved to Chariton upon their retirement in 1976.
Gladys was active in Retired Teachers, Elizabeth Circle, Garden Club, United Methodist Women, ISEA, Young at Heart, the former Business and Professional Women and the United Methodist Church.
Gladys was active at Smyrna Friends Church when she lived near Weldon.
Gladys is survived by her children, Richard Wallace of Elyria, Ohio, Shirley (Charles) McCracken of Fairfield and Karen (Robert) Shaw of Centerville, Ohio; son-in-law Lee (Sandy) Cook of Elgin, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter Sharon Cook; grandson Jonathan Shaw; daughter-in-law Margaret Wallace and four sisters.
