Jeanne Groszbach – Murray

Jeanne Groszbach, 80, of Murray died March 14, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, March 18, at Murray Church of Christ. The Rev. Brian McCracken officiated. Interment was in Murray Cemetery. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Carol Adams Ministry – Y.E.S. Uganda. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Jeanne Marie Groszbach, daughter of Mary Clara (Weeks) and Herldon Herbert Bowen, was born July 13, 1932, in Joliet, Ill.

Jeanne grew up in Illinois and graduated from Evanston High School in 1950. She attended Northwestern University and the University of Colorado.

Jeanne worked in publishing and for newspapers. She worked as a church secretary and helped with her father’s business in the office.

On Sept. 24, 1978, Jeanne married Robert Joseph Groszbach Jr. in Longmont, Colo.

Jeanne and Joe purchased a farm near Murray in 1993, and on April 26, 1996, they made the move to live on the farm full time.

She was a member of Murray Church of Christ. Jeanne and Joe were members of the Nifty Neighbors group and Buzzen Dozzen Club.

Jeanne is survived by her husband Joe Groszbach of Murray; daughters, Vickie Lynn (Stephen) Atkinson of Charlotte, N.C., Bonnie Jean (John) Schlosser of Longmont, Colo., and Beth Distel of Aurora, Colo.; brother William W. (Nancy) Bowen of St. Louis, Mo.; grandsons, Phillip Andrew and David Joseph Schlosser and granddaughter Tabitha Ann Schlosser, all of Longmont, Colo.; grandson Lee Brandon Ferguson of Aurora, Colo.; great-grandson Ezra Malachai Schlosser of Longmont, Colo.; other relatives and many friends.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her son Charles Glen MacTaggart; sister Marilyn Bowen Beebe; and parents.
