Marion “Bud” Brannon, 86, of Osceola died Feb. 17, 2013, at Fonda Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. James “Pete” Sheesley officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Disabled Veterans of Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.
Marion Willis “Bud” Brannon, son of Beulah (Miler) and Norman P. Brannon, was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Osceola.
Bud spent most of his life in the Osceola area.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served until his honorable discharge in 1947.
After returning from the Navy, Bud attended and graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic.
On Dec. 17, 1952, Bud married Mildred Evadna Pettit in Osceola.
Bud worked a short time for the phone company as a pole setter and then worked for Firestone Tire in Des Moines until his retirement in 1970.
Bud was a member of Davis-Pence American Legion Post No. 69, Osceola V.F.W., Osceola Lodge No. 77 A.F. & A.M., Osceola Order of the Odd Fellows, Iowa chapter and national chapter of L.S.T. Association and U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation.
Bud is survived by his children, Mary Britt of Osceola, Norman “Butch” (Lita) Brannon of Osceola, Rhonda (Tom) Earls of Humeston and Sharon (Tom) Cole of Osceola; grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Britt of Osceola, Ryan Britt of Osceola, Jon Pena of Grimes, Ava Brannon of Chicago, Ill., Tommy F (Amber) Earls of Harvard, Melissa (Chris) Kidd of Wichita, Kan., April (Paul) Melton of Mooresboro, N.C., Bobby (January) Cole of Osceola, T.J. Cole of Osceola and Caleb Cole of Cainsville, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Thomas M., Ty and Talon Earls, Chelsey Melton and Gabriel, Cian, Maddy and Nicholas Cole; sister-in-law Louise Thompson; brother-in-law Don Miler; sister-in-law Joan Ellis; special friends, Hanne, Samantha and Brandon Pinard and George Michelmann; cousins, Richard and Cora Blackburn and Wanda Davis; numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson Mike Brannon; brothers, Raymond Brannon in infancy and Martin Monroe Ellis; sister Jeanine Brannon;brother-in-law Wayne “Red” Thompson; sister-in-law Myrna Delphine Miler; brother-in-law John A. Miler; and nephews, Terry Thompson and Don Ellis.
