Leslie L. “Les” Johnson, 83, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Feb. 16, 2013, at his stepdaughter’s home in Las Vegas, Nev., under hospice care.

Leslie L. Johnson, son of Minnie (Rose) and Joseph Johnson, was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Buffalo, Mo.
Les was raised and educated in Osceola and served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
Les was a core setter in the foundry at John Deere in Waterloo from 1955 until his retirement in 1992.
In 1988, Les married Coleen Ellsworth in Waterloo.
Les was a member of AmVets in Cedar Falls.
They later moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., and then to Las Vegas, Nev., where family assisted in caring for him at home.
Les is survived by his wife Coleen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sons, Wayne (Joyce) of Evansdale and Brian and Michael (Tami), all of Waterloo; daughter Joni (Jay) Decker of Jefferson, Texas; stepdaughters, Leslie Sue O’Brien of Las Vegas, Nev., LaRae Burkman of Brandon, S.D., and Linda (Al) Weisser of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Arthur (Vicki) of Osceola; and sisters, Doris Oakley and Norma Warner, both of Des Moines.
Les was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roy and sisters, Lucy Johnson and Vera McDougal.
