Carolyn Kay Shorter, 65, of Lockwood, Mo., died Dec. 30, 2012, in Des Moines.
Carolyn’s celebration of life service was 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Lockwood Christian Church. The Rev. Ron Lake officiated. Lockwood Funeral Chapel, Lockwood, Mo., was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Metropolitan Bank, checks payable to Junior Shorter memo memorial fund, 523 Main, Golden City, MO 64748; Juvenile Diabetes Fund or Alzheimer’s Association.
Carolyn Kay Shorter, daughter of Lois (Freund) and Edward Evans, was born Sept. 13, 1947, in Jerico Springs, Mo.
Carolyn graduated from Lockwood High School.
On Oct. 14, 1967, Carolyn married Junior Shorter at Cedarville Church in Cedarville, Mo.
Carolyn was a member of Lockwood Christian Church.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Junior Shorter; sons, Alan Shorter and Scott (wife Teri) Shorter; daughter Stacy (husband Vince) Wellinger; brothers, Ron (wife Jeanne) Evans and Rick (wife Loana) Evans; grandchildren, Savannah (husband Aaron) Turnbaugh, Torri, Tianna and Trace Shorter and Natasha Wellinger; great-grandchildren, Izabella and Xavier Wellinger and Dillan, Ember, Oaklei and Paizley Turnbaugh; aunt Mildred Hodgson; brothers-in-law, Mike (wife Kaye) Shorter and Jim (wife Pam) Shorter; sisters-in-law, Debbie Broyles and Sherry (husband Don) Hack; mother-in-law Ruth Shorter; several aunts- and uncles-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law Mel Shorter; father-in-law Wayne Shorter and infant nephew Brian Evans.
