Marvin ‘Frank’ Burdess Osceola

Marvin “Frank” Burdess, 72, of Osceola, died Feb. 9, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Church of Christ in Murray. The Rev. Brian McCracken will officiate. Burial will be in Murray Cemetery. Open visitation with family present will be 9 to 10 a.m. service time Saturday at the church. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston, is in charge of arrangements. Marvin Franklin Burdess, son of Lillie Fern (Grove) and Albert Robert Burdess, was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Woodburn.

Frank attended Weldon High School.

On Sept. 2, 1962, Frank married Mary Elaine Poil in Council Bluffs.

They lived in Colo, where he was an auto parts puller. Then they moved to Omaha, Neb., where he worked as a tree surgeon; Redfield, Ark., as a VW specialist; Sheridan, Ark., as a lumber jack, and then moved to Des Moines to work as a VW specialist and foreign car imports. He then moved back to Redfield, Ark., and worked as a VW specialist and then Vilonia, Ark., and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic.

Frank was a member of Vilonia Missionary Baptist Church.

Frank is survived by his wife Mary Elaine Burdess of Osceola; sons, Thomas Anthony Burdess of Cassville, Mo., and Travis Brian Burdess of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Juliana Christine (husband Michael) Hernandez of Wasilla, Alaska, and Joella DeAnne (husband Marty) Perry of Osceola; brothers, Warren H. Burdess of Boone, Lester M. Burdess of Sheridan, Ark., and Ray Dean (wife Carol) Burdess of Weldon; sisters, Twyla M. Gochanour of Osceola, Lila Jean Simmons of Denver, Colo., Judith A. (husband Dennis) Welch of Sheridan, Ark., Doris E. (husband Larry) Wineland of Des Moines and Beverly L. Stillian of Eudora, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; twin sister Mary Frances Burdess; brothers, John David, Glenn Dale, Norman Lee and Lyle Gilbert Burdess and great-grandchildren, Hunter L. Burdess and twins Lillian and Waylon Still.
