Irene Johnson Osceola

Irene Johnson, 73, of Osceola died Feb. 8, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital.

Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Rob Alfalah officiated. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Chapter of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation or Osceola Senior Center.

Irene Ellen Johnson, daughter of Elizabeth G. (Thomas) and William Henry Waggoner, was born April 2, 1939, in Story County.

Irene received her education in Des Moines, attending East High School.

On Dec. 4, 1969, Irene married Robert Johnson in Des Moines.

Irene was a member of the Parkinson’s Disease community and participated in the farmers’ market for many years in Osceola. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith in her early years but in recent years recommitted her faith with the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Irene is survived by her husband Robert Weston Johnson of Osceola; daughters, Terri (Jeff) Bredvold of Arvada, Colo., and Kathy Mook of Osceola; sons, Randy (Pamela) Johnson of Ankeny, Russell (Tina Overton) Johnson of Des Moines and Michael (Tracy) Johnson of Osceola; nine grandchidlren; five great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; and aunts, Dorothy Belcher, Maxine Nelson and Vivian Nelson.
