Roadrunners 17th at Tiger Invite

GUTHRIE CENTER — The Interstate 35 wrestling team finished 17th out of 21 teams Saturday at the Guthrie Center Tiger Invitational.

Interstate 35 scored 47 points. Clarion-Goldfield won the team race with 156 points, while North West Webster finished second with 137 points.

Austin Pontier finished fifth at 106 pounds.

Paul Queck placed eighth at 126 pounds. Queck pinned JD Lyman of Nodaway Valley in the opening round, before getting pinned by Clarion-Goldfield's Joel Haberman. Queck then lost a 13-2 major decision to Guthrie Center's Tucker Patrick.

Queck went on to pin Jimmy Harney of Woodward-Granger before losing an 11-3 major decision to Lyman in the seventh-place match.

Ethan Jones finished third at 182 pounds. Jones pinned Brad Patterson of Guthrie Center in the opening round and won a 12-5 decision over Panorama's Colby Woodvine in the quarterfinals.

Jones then was pinned by Humboldt's Nikko Wheeler in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Jones pinned Riverside's Brandon Paulsen and won a 14-0 major decision over Woodvine.

Lonnie Harper finished fifth at 220 pounds. Harper lost his first match by fall to Caleb Hanson of Clarion-Goldfield before pinning Grant Bockoven of Prairie Valley. Harper then lost to Brent Carlson of Woodward-Granger and pinned Humboldt's Cordes Olthoff in the fifth-place match.

The Roadrunners return to action Saturday in sectionals at Winterset.
