Edwin Liggitt Osceola

Edwin C. Liggitt, 94, of Osceola died Dec. 16, 2012, at Clarke County Hospital.

Private burial services will be held in Osceola at a later date with interment in Maple Hill Cemetery. Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Des Moines, was in charge of arrangements.

Edwin C. Liggitt was born Dec. 16, 1918, on a farm in Clarke County, Liberty Township, Osceola.

Edwin was educated through eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse, St. George No. 9, in Liberty Township and later graduated from New Virginia High School in 1937.

Edwin served several years in World War II.

On Aug. 19, 1942, Edwin married Louise Diehl in Meridan, Miss.

Edwin spent 52 years farming with Louise.

Edwin was a member of The American Legion Post 157 of Woodburn.

Edwin is survived by his daughter Carmeletta Kaye Liggitt of Osceola and son Gary Liggitt (Gwenna) of Honolulu, Hawaii; brother Robert Liggitt of Osceola and a host of nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Estelle Liggitt; and wife.
