Clarke freshmen fall to 1-6

The Clarke boys freshman team fell to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in South Central Conference play with losses to Davis County, Winterset, Chariton and Eddyville-Blakesburg.

The Indians fell 36-26 to Davis County on Jan. 4.

Zach Harmsen led the way with eight points, grabbing two rebounds and one assist with one steal. Kooper Brimm netted six points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the loss. Hunter Simpson also scored six points with seven rebounds, while Dakota Dyer added four and Kyle Burkheimer scored two points.

Clarke dropped a 74-38 contest to Winterset on Jan. 5.

Brimm scored a team-high eight points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Indians. Rich Wilkins added seven points, while Jeremy Jones chipped in six points and Hunter Simpson scored five points. Dakota Dwyer added five points. Zach Harmsen scored three points, while Jordan Minter and Justin Adams each scored two points.

The Indians also lost a 30-15 game to Chariton on Jan. 11.

Brimm finished with four points and six rebounds to lead the team, while Harmsen and Simpson each added three points with four rebounds. Trevor Kirkpatrick also scored three points. Trey Beers chipped in two points with four rebounds.

Clarke dropped a close, 29-25, game to Eddyville-Blakesburg on Jan. 18.

Beers led the Indians in scoring with seven points, while Kyle Burkheimer led the team with six rebounds. Brimm and Harmsen each scored three points with four rebounds. Darius Fugate scored six points and blocked four shots. Abel Salinas, Kirkpatrick and Weston Brokaw each chipped in two points. Kirkpatrick added four steals and Brimm finished with three.
