Jasper Marion Nicholson Woodburn

Jasper Nicholson, 74, of Woodburn, died Jan. 6, 2013, at his home.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment was in Norwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Lucas County Humane Society or HCI Care Services, Osceola. Online condolences may be left at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.

Jasper Marion Nicholson, son of Leta (Crooks) and Marvin Nicholson, was born Oct. 30, 1938, in rural Clarke County.

Marion went to Puckerbrush Country School.

In 1958, Marion married Eva Marker.

Marion worked construction and in the steel industry in Des Moines for many years. He built the steel that was used in the Ruan Building and for the first skywalks in Des Moines. He farmed even when he was working in Des Moines and had a repair shop at his home.

Marion is survived by his mother Leta Nicholson; wife Eva; children, Roxane (Bill) Shreck of Marshfield, Mo., and Wesley Nicholson of Burlington; granddaughters, Ashley (Kevin) Childress and Jennifer (Joe Phelps) Neer; great-grandchildren, Lili and Lucas Childress; sisters, Marilyn (Gene) Marsh and Cindy Jo (Monte) Hutchings; and nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Marion was preceded in death by his father.
