Jack Chandler, 78, of New Virginia died Jan. 5, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
Graveside services were Wednesday, Jan. 9, at New Virginia Cemetery. Chaplain Matthew Novotny of Care Initiatives Hospice officiated. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com
Jack Eugene Chandler, son of Ruth Oleta (German) and Glenn Leland Chandler, was born March 12, 1934, in Osceola. He lived nearly his entire life in Clarke County.
Jack graduated from Osceola High School in 1952.
Jack served two years in the United States Army, spending 18 months in Germany, where he received his marksmanship medal.
On May 29, 1956, Jack married Anita Diehl.
Jack was a farmer and in the logging business for many years. He spent a few years as a buyer for Hill’s Brothers Veneer Company.
Jack was a member of the New Virginia Christian Church.
Jack is survived by his wife Anita of New Virginia; sons, Dan Chandler of Waterloo and Leland (Debbie Olson) Chandler of New Virginia; grandsons, Cody (Bridget) Chandler of West Des Moines, Clint (Lacey) Chandler of New Virginia and Nathan (Kristina Myers) Chandler of New Virginia; granddaughter Lindsie (Adam) Hutton of Winterset; great-grandchildren, Blake, Hailey and Reece Hutton and Aaron, Ezabell, Amelia and Payton Chandler; aunt Bernice Curnes; nieces, cousins and many friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Robert Diehl.
