Stephen Knight Afton

Stephen Knight, 59, of Afton, formerly of Osceola, died Dec. 28, 2012, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Interment of his cremains will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola at a later date. Visitation with family present will be 1 to 2 p.m. service time Saturday at the funeral home. Stephen Duane Knight, son of Evelyn Edna (Steeve) and Duane Alden Knight, was born Jan. 17, 1953, in Des Moines.

Steve grew up in Osceola. He was in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

He graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1972.

Steve worked at Jimmy Dean in Osceola for several years.

Steve became a resident of CARE in Afton in 1985 and was active with the many activities they provided and Special Olympics.

Steve is survived by his sister Beverly (Hershel) Sims of Osceola; father Duane Knight of Osceola; nephews, Ryan (Robin) Crenshaw of Afton and Nick Crenshaw of Osceola; great-nephews, Dustin Teas, Briar Bowers, Caden Crenshaw, Joey Johnson and Dalton Hines; great-niece Samantha Johnson; aunts, Mona Fetty of Texas, Linda Steeve of Indianola and Dora Steeve of Clarinda; uncle James Woldruff of Clarinda; aunt and uncle Lyle and Pat Steeve of Creston; and the CARE staff and family.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother; brother Mark Knight; nephew Chad Crenshaw; grandparents, Dorothy and Benny Knight and Edna and Paul Steeve; uncles, Jerry Fetty, James Steeve, Larry Steeve and Ron Steeve; aunt Arleen Woldruff; aunts and uncles, Marge and Max Huseman and Mary Ann and Omar Swanson; and cousin Perry Steeve.
