Hollis L. Penfold, 82, of Osceola died Dec. 29, 2012, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.
Services were 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial was in Resthaven Cemetery in Des Moines. Memorials may be given to Care Initiative Hospice or for Alzheimer’s research. Online condolences may be left at www.overtonfunerals.com.
Hollis LaRoy Penfold, son of Luella Jane (Roberts) and Roy Penfold, was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Cumberland.
Hollis was a 1948 graduate of Corning High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Hollis married Dorothy Wright. She died in 1988.
In 1991, he married Virginia Hauge.
Hollis worked for SuperValu in Des Moines for 36 years, retiring in 1994.
He lived in Osceola for the past one and a-half years.
Hollis is survived by his wife Virginia; children, Mike Penfold, Christine (Clint) Seeley and Lynn (Kevin) Simmons; stepchildren, David (Debbie) Hauge, Carrol (Bruce) Duncan, Charlene (Doug) Deitrick and Ginny Smith; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, Hollis was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Holly Walker; stepdaughter Julie Langholz and brother Harley Penfold.
