Clarke freshmen boys 1-2 in 2012

The Clarke freshman boys basketball team enters the 2013 portion of its schedule with a 1-2 overall mark, with all three games also coming against conference opponents.

The Indians opened the season with a 54-22 loss to Chariton on Dec. 3.

Kooper Brimm led the Indians, scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the loss. Zach Harmsen added six points and one assist. Hunter Simpson was the only other scorer for the Indians, scoring four points.

Clarke then defeated Eddyville-Blakesburg 28-18 on Dec. 7.

The Indians featured a balanced scoring attack in the game as Zach Van Zandt and Brimm each scored eight points, while Harmsen added seven and Simpson scored five points.

Brimm also pulled down 14 rebounds to go with three steals and two assists, while Van Zandt grabbed 11 rebounds with two steals. Harmsen also collected three steals in the win.

The Indians fell to Albia 46-11 on Dec. 14 to close out the 2012 portion of their schedule.

Harmsen led Clarke with seven points and eight rebounds, while Jordan Minter and Simpson each scored two points. Minter added five rebounds, while Simpson grabbed four.

Van Zandt grabbed six rebounds in the loss.

Clarke opens the 2013 portion of its schedule Friday at Davis County in a freshman, junior varsity, varsity tripleheader.
