Harold Jones, 83, of New Virginia died Dec. 18, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola.The Rev. Keith Putney officiated. Interment was in New Virginia Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to his family.
Harold Roy Jones, son of Dorothy Irene (Dean) and Carl Roy Jones, was born Feb. 1, 1929, in Clarke County.
Harold served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of sergeant.
On March 17, 1951, Harold married Luella Stiles in Osceola.
Harold worked as a forge operator for John Deere in Ankeny.
He was a founding member of the New Virginia Saddle Club. He helped farmers around the New Virginia area.
Harold is survived by his wife Luella Jones of Osceola; children, Stephen (Cindy) Jones of Spring Hill, Randy (Kathy) Jones of New Virginia, Gary Jones of Red Oak, Texas, Paula Hollingsworth of Osceola and Bill Jones of New Virginia; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother Ardith (Carmen) Jones of Osceola; sister Georgia Carson of Osceola; sister-in-law Janice Jones of Ackworth, as well as other relatives and many friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rhonda Sue Luckett; daughter-in-law Betty Jones; son-in-law Scott Hollingsworth; sister Joann Root; and brothers, Ronnie and Kenny Jones.
