Helen Rose Lingle Lucas
Helen Rose Lingle, of Lucas, Iowa daughter of Frank Russell Lingle and Rose Lorraine Logsdon, was born on January 19, 1933 in Osceola, Iowa and passed away on November 18, 2012 in West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 79.
Helen attended school in Woodburn and Des Moines. She spent much of her time with her father and worked beside him in her younger years. She moved to Des Moines and began work for Mr. Shadur at the Iowa Box Company where she made many lifelong friends. She married Mervin A. Briggs in Tecumseh, Nebraska on July 18, 1966 and they made their home in Lucas for 35 years.
Helen enjoyed world news, political discussions, WWII history, fishing in the late night and early morning hours, woodworking, painting, gardening, baking and making holiday candies. She was a lifelong Democrat and supporter of civil rights. Helen was a woman of strong opinion and persistent in her goals and desires. Her gruff personality hid a very sensitive soul who sought love and deep friendship. Her grandchildren were the capping joy of her life.
