Cody Hart Osceola

Cody Hart, 67, of Osceola died Oct. 28, 2012, at West Bridge Care Center in Winterset.

No public services are to be held at the request of Cody. Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Ronald James Coden Hart, son of Stella C. (Tuttle) and Julius H. Hart, was born Sept. 17, 1945, in Winston Salem, N.C.

Cody served in the Airforce in Vietnam, serving from 1967-1969.

On Feb. 14, 1992, Cody married Helen May (Duff) Lester in Osceola.

Early on, Cody sold oxygen to hospitals, and then moved to California to manage condominium complexes. He worked a ranch in Nevada, before returning to Iowa to help engineer a packing house in Marshalltown.

He later moved to Osceola, where he engineered and manufactured BBQ utensils, later selling Helco Manufacturing. He went on to work as a consultant for business start-ups and did some hobby farming.

Cody is survived by his wife Helen Hart of Osceola; stepdaughters, Michelle Rinehart of Osceola and Karmon (husband Richard) Hill of Des Moines; sisters, Alice (husband Clay) of Winston Salem, N.C., and Jeriann and three step-grandchildren.

Cody was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.
