Marvel John Babberl Windsor Heights

Marvel John Babberl, 84, of Windsor Heights passed away peacefully on October 15, 2012.

John was born in Osceola to Orville and Mabel (Overton) Babberl on August 1, 1928.

He grew up and attended school in Clarke County and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1949.

On March 4, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Marie Bailey. They were blessed with six children.

John worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad in several locations, including Osceola, Knoxville, Ottumwa, and Chariton. John and Dorothy spent the last nine years enjoying their friends and family in their apartment in Windsor Heights.

John will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy; children, Pat Remington, Kathy Babberl, Pam (Bill) Mogensen, Cindy (Steve) Nation, and Kim Babberl; daughter-in-law, Jenny Babberl; grandchildren, Angela (Tony) Garmoe, Travis Remington, Brandy (Chris) Poli, Shawn (Sarah) Babberl, Brad Babberl, Selena Babberl, Stephanie (Dustin) Kidder, Megan Churchill, Abbey (Jimmy) Norton, Heather Churchill, Jonathan Nation; great-grandchildren, Cody Remington, James and Christopher Garmoe, Austin and Trinity Kidder, Jordon and Lydia Sand, and Jimmy, Claire and Elijah Norton; brothers-in-law, Junior Bailey and Jack Heilman, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by son, Mike Babberl; son-in-law, Larry Remington; his parents, Orville and Mabel; and siblings, Lyle Babberl, Stan Babberl, and Lela Heilman.

Visitation was at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012. A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
