Harold Deemer, 91, of Osceola, formerly of Kellerton, died Oct. 15, 2012, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Joyce Smith officiated. Burial with military rites afforded by Kellerton American Legion No. 676 was in Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton. A memorial fund has been established to HCI Care Services.
Harold Deemer, son of Emily Pierce and William Deemer, was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Decatur County.
Harold graduated from Leon High School.
On Dec. 11, 1942, Harold married Esta T. Walter in Grant City, Mo.
Harold farmed near Diagonal for 11 years before moving to and farming near Kellerton for several years. Harold and Esta moved to Osceola in the spring of 2011.
Harold was a member of the V.F.W. and Farm Bureau.
Harold is survived by his wife Esta Deemer of Osceola; son Kenneth (wife Patricia) Deemer of Olathe, Kan.; daughters, Katherine Reynolds of Osceola and Patricia (husband Jim) Nell of Ankeny; daughter-in-law Nancy Grose of Kellerton; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Wehrle of West Burlington, Wilma Messina of Magalia, Calif., and Rosalee Keller of Newton; and sisters-in-law, Vera Deemer of Mount Ayr and Dorothy Neal of Garden Grove.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son John Deemer; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maude Bennett and Jesse and Irene Ingram and Wes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert Deemer and Eva, Frank Deemer, Ralph Deemer and Helen, Lester Deemer and Wilma and Wayne Deemer; and brothers-in-law, Bob Wehrle, Joe Messina and Jack Keller.
