Interstate 35 6

TRURO — Albia knocked off Interstate 35, 56-6, here on Friday.

Interstate 35 falls to 0-8 overall and 0-5 in Class 2A District 6 play, with just the regular season finale at Clarke on Friday remaining.

Senior Tommy Bregar led the team with 83 rushing yards on nine carries, including the only Interstate 35 touchdown of the game, a 12-yard score. Bregar also passed 5-of-14 for 34 yards with two interceptions.

Albia’s stingy defense shut down the rest of the Interstate 35 rushing attack, holding the team to just 143 rushing yards and 177 total yards of offense.

Senior Mitch Vipond led the team in receptions with three for 10 yards, while Wyatt Davenport caught one pass for 19 yards. Jaylan White added one reception for 5 yards.

Senior Ethan Jones racked up 22 total tackles to lead the Roadrunners, while senior Tyler Lester and sophomore Garrett Thompson each added 10.

DSM Christian 21, Central Decatur 6

LEON — Central Decatur fell to Des Moines Christian 21-6 here Friday.

The loss eliminates Central Decatur from playoff contention.

Senior quarterback Austin Wells made his return to the Cardinal lineup after leaving a week one victory with a broken leg. Wells passed 5-of-10 for 43 yards in the losing effort.

Dalton Gilbert threw for the only Cardinal touchdown, a 19-yard strike to Bryson Durrow. Durrow finished the game with three catches for 41 yards.

Gilbert added four receptions for 36 yards and Trenton Wells had three catches for 41 yards.

Gilbert led the team in rushing with 106 yards on 17 carries. Tyler Williams added 26 yards on 10 carries.

Central Decatur, 4-4 overall and 1-4 in Class 1A District 7, hosts Ogden on Friday in the season finale.
