Hazel Pritchard Osceola

Hazel Marie Pritchard, daughter of Fred Irving and Florence (Steen) Irving, was born June 8, 1921, in Decatur County, Iowa, and passed from this life Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, Iowa, at 91 years of age.

Hazel grew up in the Van Wert area and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Glenn Pritchard on August 6, 1939, at Leon, IA and three children blessed this union.

Hazel worked for Clarke County Hospital, Snowdons, Blue Haven Motel and Osceola Leisure Manor. She was baptized at the Van Wert Christian Church and was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Osceola. Hazel helped with many church and funeral dinners and was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship and the Osceola Women’s Club. Hazel was a fabulous cook and had the best noodles. She loved sewing and doing all kinds of needle work.

Those relatives who preceded Hazel in death were parents; Glenn Pritchard; two children in infancy, Richard and Barbara; grandson in infancy, Kevin; brothers, Ernest and Melvin Irving; sister, Lena Copley.

Hazel leaves to cherish her memory; son, Arthur (Evelyn) Pritchard of Osceola, IA, son, Robert Lee Pritchard of Elkhorn, IA, son, Roger (Judy) Pritchard of Ames, IA, 5 grandchildren, Arthur Pritchard (Leslie), Mary Lafferty (Bill), Cinde Ihle (Mark), Rob Pritchard (Melissa) and Barbara Schaben (Neil); 3 step-grandchildren, Timothy Allen (Tiffany), Brad Hainline (Lynn) and Brenda Moore (Daniel); 14 great-grandchildren, Adam, Jordan and Colton Pritchard, Aaron and Austin Lafferty, Dylan Schaben, Katelyn Meyn, Kimberly Mohler and Kaley, Kristy and Cael Ihle, Tyson, Shelby and Nation Pritchard; 7 step-great-grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Verbik, Zachary and Ethan Moore, and Amber, Shelby and Payton Hainline; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great-grandhild; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Osceola. Family will greet friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00. Interment will be in the Van Wert Cemetery. Pastor Gary Brooks of the Osceola First Christian Church will be officiating. Visitation will be open at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola from 3:00 to 7:00 Monday evening.
