MURRAY — A water-main break at First and McLellan streets in Murray has caused school to be cancelled Tuesday and a boil order issued.
According to Murray City Councilman Greg Clark, there is an 80 percent chance the water-main break will be repaired by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Clark did not know the cause for the break at this time.
Murray School District closed at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
"The school is waiting for notification on whether they can have school or a late start in the morning," Clark said about the school day Wednesday.
If the water is restored by this evening, it could still be contaminated, Clark said.
This means a five-day mandatory boil order has been issued.
Clark said the school is in the process of getting pallet loads of bottled water available for drinking purposes during the week.
