Violet North — Osceola

Violet North, 92, of Osceola died Sept. 20, 2012, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Graveside services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. The Rev. Chuck DeVos officiated. Kale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Clarke County Hospital Auxiliary. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Violet  North, daughter of Gertie Adelphia (Osborn) and Walter Waldo Cornelison, was born June 10, 1920, in Doyle Township in Clarke County.

Vi grew up in rural Clarke County and attended country school. She moved to Osceola in the early 1950s.

On March 7, 1959, Vi married Cecil Brice North in Bethany, Mo.

Vi had worked as a waitress at the cafe in the hotel and also Dairy Queen. She also worked as a store clerk for the jewelry store.

Vi is survived by her children, Gary Holmes of Leon, Marcella (Stan) Potts of Terrell, Texas, and Carolyn (Jack) Glenn of Fostoria, Ohio; stepdaughter Marilyn Moon of Leon; stepson Frank North of Cranston, R.I.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Rosalie Keal; brother Waldo Cornelison and sister Helen Reynolds.
