John V. Wyatt Jr. – Osceola

John V. Wyatt Jr., 85, of Osceola died Sept. 9, 2012, at his home north of Osceola.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Benny Foster officiated. Interment was in Fremont Cemetery in Clarke County. Memorials may be directed to Osceola V.F.W. or New Virginia American Legion. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

John V. Wyatt Jr., son of Edith B. (Smalley) and John Vernon Wyatt Sr., was born March 7, 1927, in Rising Sun.

John grew up in Altoona.

John served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

On March 7, 1952, John married N. Frances Paullin in Winterset.

John and Frances lived in Pine Snag, Ark., for many years. John attended auctioneer school and worked as an auctioneer for a couple of years. They were active members of Pleasant Valley Southern Baptist Church near Pine Snag.

They moved back to Iowa, and John worked for Massey Ferguson in Des Moines for more than 12 years. John also had his own welding shop.

John was a member of New Virginia American Legion Post 281.

John is survived by his wife Frances of Osceola; son John (Gloria) V. Wyatt III of Osceola; daughter Krystal (Stuart) Boley of Des Moines; grandchildren, Macabo (Angel Hilts) Overton of Des Moines, Gina (Billy) Lewis of Liberty, Brent Overton of Des Moines and Lacey (Kevin) Anderson of Des Moines; sisters, Kathryn Myer of Green Cove, Fla., and Sherry Shuey of Henderson, Nev.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry Wyatt; sister Dorothy Bain and a sister in infancy.
