Jack Whitehead, 67, of The Villages, Fla., died Aug. 20, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
A private graveside service was held Aug. 24 at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military honors by Fremont Honor Guard. Ludvigsen Morturary Chapel, Fremont, was in charge of arrangements.
Jack Whitehead was born Sept. 28, 1944, in Osceola.
Jack grew up on the family farm near Osceola. Jack graduated from Clarke Community Schools and Iowa State University. He served three years in the United States Army, including two years in Vietnam.
Jack spent the majority of his working career at Hoegemeyer Hybrids as a farm manager. His most recent work was truck driving covering a majority of the United States. He resided in The Villages, Fla.
Jack is survived by his daughters, Robin Whitehead (husband Russ Johnson) of Omaha, Neb., and Rhonda (husband Eric) Bostrom of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren, Cameron and Andrea Johnson and Annika and Soren Bostrom; special friend Freda Owens; brothers, John LeRoy (wife Margaret) Whitehead, Everett (wife Midge) Whitehead and Duane (wife Wanda) Whitehead, all of Cocoa, Fla.; sister Loretta Hoffman of Neosha, Mo.; and sister-in-law Mamee Jo.
Jack was preceded by his brothers, Dean Whitehead and Gilbert Walters and parents, John and Hazel Whitehead.
