Winterset quad

The Roadrunners defeated Clarke 2-0, Lenox 2-1 and fell to Winterset 2-0.

“We actually started out pretty well,” head coach Tim McKinney said. “We have, in the past, come out of that with only one win, but we were able to come out of that with more wins than losses, so we felt good about that.”

Junior Haley Bean collected six aces on 15-of-15 serving against Clarke. Senior Rachael Wiggins led the team with six kills.

Junior Abby Boyer had a big match against Lenox, going 14-16 serving with four aces and nine kills, to go along with 11 assists. Wiggins added three aces with four kills. Also collecting four kills in the match were Jenna Sandquist and Jordan Williamson.

ADM tourney

ADEL — The Interstate 35 volleyball team went 0-5 at the ADM Tournament here on Aug. 30, losing to ADM, Perry, Knoxville, Newton and West Central Valley.

“We need some more time together on the floor, need work on defining the roles on the team, but we still had some good bright spots,” head coach Tim McKinney said. “We’re anxious to have more opportunities to play and get some things ironed out, and just get the season going a little bit more.”

The Roadrunners (2-6) return to action with home matches on Sept. 4 against Southeast Warren and Sept. 6 against West Central Valley.
