JOLIET, Ill. — Maddie Beeler, a recent graduate of Interstate 35, competed in the 2012 Senior All-Star Spotlight Meet here Saturday.

The meet features seniors from Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin representing their states in a triangular track meet. Athletes are nominated by coaches.

Beeler brought home two gold medals and one silver medal, while also being named Team Iowa’s Outstanding Meet Performer.

Beeler won the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.51, nearly 1.50 seconds ahead of second place Ashlee Downs, also from Team Iowa.

Beeler was also a part of the gold-medal winning 4x400 relay team that also featured Marisa Evers, Tayo Ajose and Downs. That relay team ran 4:00.36, just edging out Team Wisconsin, which finished second in 4:00.38.

Beeler took second place in the 200 meter dash, running 26.31. Beeler finished second to Claire Keger of Team Illinois, who ran 26.01.

Beeler’s biggest honor, however, came when she was named the Outstanding Meet Performer for Team Iowa. James Harrington from Cedar Falls won the male Outstanding Meet Performer for Team Iowa. Beeler will be running track for the University of Northern Iowa in the fall.
