Clarke 63, Chariton 50
OSCEOLA — The Indians improved to 7-0 in the South Central Conference and swept the season series against the Chargers here Friday night.
Clarke jumped on top 16-9 in the first quarter and gained some breathing room with a 20-12 advantage in the third.
Kacey Klemesrud and Kylar McCann had 16 points each for the Indians, while Alayna Diveney added 14 and Libby Bemis and Sarah Pate had six points each. Klemesrud also had seven rebounds, Carley Robins passed out four assists and Diveney nabbed a team-high six steals.
Murray 47, Moravia 38
MORAVIA — The Lady Mustangs improved to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the Bluegrass Conference with a solid road win Friday night.
Moravia (7-5, 2-2) led 12-9 after one quarter, but Murray outscored the Mohawks 28-16 over the next two quarters to take command.
Kate Patton had 19 points, 12 steals, eight rebounds and three assists for Murray. Megan Oswald added nine points and six rebounds, while Summer Glasener had seven points and four steals.
Nodaway Valley 39, Interstate 35 (Truro) 24
GREENFIELD — An outstanding defensive effort — including holding Olivia Sulentic to 12 points, nearly half her season average — led the Wolverines to a Pride of Iowa Conference victory Friday night at home.
The Wolverines led 11-5 after one quarter and took a 21-11 lead into the half. I-35 was held to single digit points in each quarter.
The Roadrunners fell to 8-5 overall and 5-4 in the POI.
Central Decatur 44, Mount Ayr 32
LEON — The Cardinals were held 17 points below their season average and scored a season-low 44 points, but Mount Ayr’s offense continued its struggles in a Pride of Iowa Conference contest here Friday night.
CD improved to 12-1 overall and 9-0 in the POI with the win.
Sadie Greene led Central Decatur with 15 points. Bailey Boswell had 13 rebounds, nine points, four steals and three assists. Hallie Linhart added seven points and seven rebounds.
Thursday, Jan. 12
Murray 51, East Union 46
AFTON — The Lady Mustangs grabbed the lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed again in a non-conference win over the Eagles here Thursday night.
“They were able to close it to within one on a couple of occasions, but could never get the lead,” Murray coach Jerry Shields said.
Megan Oswald had 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals to pace Murray. Summer Glasener added 12 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals for a solid all-around game. Kate Patton had nine points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals and Ashley Rider had seven rebounds and six assists.
Tuesday, Jan. 10
Twin Cedars 50, Murray 35
BUSSEY — The Sabers outscored the Lady Mustangs 33-19 in the second and third quarters to pull away for a Bluegrass Conference win here Tuesday night.
Murray fell to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in league play, while Twin Cedars moved to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in the Bluegrass.
Kate Patton had eight points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists for Murray, while Megan Oswald grabbed nine rebounds and added eight points. Ashley Rider had a team-high 12 rebounds and four steals and Summer Glasener added seven points.
Central Decatur 66, Wayne 42
CORYDON — The Cardinals outscored the Falcons 22-10 in the second quarter and 21-8 in the third to pull away for a Pride of Iowa Conference road win.
Sadie Green led four players in double figures with 17 points. She also had seven steals, six assists and four rebounds. Hallie Linhart added 11 points, Elise Dale had 10 points and seven rebounds and Bailey Boswell had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Martensdale-St. Marys 55, Interstate 35 (Truro) 21
TRURO — The Blue Devils outscored the Roadrunners 22-1 in the second quarter to take control of a Pride of Iowa Conference contest.
