Murray 83, Seymour 24

LAMONI — The Mustangs opened defense of their Bluegrass Conference Tournament title with a 59-point thumping of the Warriors here Monday night.

Murray led 29-6 after one quarter and sailed to the league tourney win.

Austin Halls had 22 points, six assists and five steals, while Cody Scroggie added 21 points and three assists. Eddie Otto and Matt Johnston chipped in eight points each and Johnston also had a team-high nine rebounds.

The Mustangs (13-1) advance to the semifinals Thursday at Moulton-Udell against Twin Cedars (7-8).

Friday, Jan. 13

Chariton 51, Clarke 38

OSCEOLA — The Indians led 9-7 after one quarter, but fell behind the Chargers by halftime, 25-22. Chariton took control of the South Central Conference battle in the third quarter with a 16-6 advantage.

Clarke fell to 2-9 overall and 0-6 in the SCC with the home loss.

Colin Morris and Dylan Diveney led the Indians with 10 points each, while Diveney also had 11 rebounds and Morris grabbed five. Bowe Porter added seven points and four rebounds, Dalton Sweeney had six points and four rebounds and Tobi Bailey had two assists and two steals.

The Indians return to action Friday when they travel to SCC rival Eddyville-Blakesburg.

Murray 79, Moravia 29

MORAVIA — The Mustangs warmed up for the Bluegrass Conference Tournament with a resounding 50-point road win over the Mohawks here Friday night.

A 27-11 start against a Moravia team missing some varsity players paved the way for the Bluegrass Conference rout.

Austin Halls had 27 points, 10 assists and eight steals for the Mustangs (12-1). Cody Scroggie added 14 points, five steals and five assists and Andrew Rider added nine points.

Mount Ayr 74, Central Decatur 43

LEON — The Cardinals dropped to 1-12 overall and 0-9 in the Pride of Iowa Conference with a loss at home to the POI second-place Raiders.

Mount Ayr blew open a competitive game with a 35-14 advantage in the third quarter.

Bryson Durrow had 13 points and three steals for the Cardinals, while Jacob Hayworth added 12 points. Colton Toney had eight points and six rebounds.
