Hilda Schaffer - Osceola
Hilda Rose Schaffer, 72, of Osceola, died Aug. 18, 2010, at Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Aug. 23 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Des Moines. Burial followed Mass at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
Hilda Rose Schaffer, daughter of Allen and Irene Dittmer, was born on Feb. 17, 1938, in rural Warren County.
On Jan. 7, 1956, Hilda married Wayne Schaffer. They farmed near Lacona, and from there they moved to Grinnell before finally ending up in Des Moines in 1960.
