Dean Shrader – Osceola

Dean Shrader, 77, of Osceola, died Aug. 15, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Arispe United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Hoff and the Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Powers Funeral Home, 612 N. Dodge St., Afton, was in charge of arrangements. A Masonic service was held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to Arispe United Methodist Church and Afton walking trail. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Donald “Dean” Shrader, son of Cleo Leone (Brock) and John Carl Shrader, was born Dec. 1, 1932, in Shannon City.

Dean graduated from Arispe High School in 1951. Dean served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954.

On June 8, 1952, Dean married Romona M. Bennett in Arispe. They settled in Arispe.

They moved to Afton, where Dean owned and operated Afton Implement. In 1974, they moved to Osceola, where they owned and operated Clarke County Implement and D. and D. Equipment.
