Area players earn all-state softball honors

Seven local softball players, including a pair of Clarke Indians, were recently named All-State by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Indian senior outfielder Josey Ellis and freshman catcher Sarah Pate were both named to the honorable mention squad in Class 2A.

Ellis batted .318 with 24 RBIs, seven doubles, a triple and two home runs. Pate batted .375 with 24 RBIs, nine doubles, a triple and a team-high five home runs.

Joining Ellis and Pate on the Class 2A team were a quartet of Interstate 35 Roadrunners.

Senior Bri Douglas received the highest honor for local players, as she was tabbed to the Second Team as a utility player. Douglas was I-35's catcher and lead-off hitter in her final season.

Douglas batted .409 for I-35 with 24 RBIs, eight doubles, a triple and five home runs.

I-35 senior outfielder Tyler Consoer was named to the Class 2A Third Team.

Consoer had a .380 batting average with a team-high 31 RBIs, six doubles, two triples, a home run and 26 runs scored.

Roadrunners named honorable mention were junior pitcher Allison Seibert and junior infielder Tess Brownlee.

Seibert went 16-8 in the circle with a 1.22 ERA and three saves. She struck out 202 opponents in 143 innings and allowed 93 hits. Brownlee batted .315 with 14 RBIs, eight doubles, a triple and scored a team-high 28 runs.

In Class 1A, Murray junior catcher Tessa Otto was named to the honorable mention team.

Otto batted .359 with a team-high 16 RBIs. She also had a team-high 10 doubles and three triples and scored 21 runs.
