On Friday, Feb. 26, Mary Lou Parker and her daughter, Christy Brommel, of Indianola attended the craft show that was held at the Iowa State Fair grounds in the Varied Industries building.  A lot of beautiful handiwork was on display and for sale and the floral arrangement displays were just beautiful.

We actually had one week without snow falling.  It has been wonderful but we still have several inches of snow on the ground and that is keeping our temperatures cooler than what they usually are for late February/March.  The weathermen say that in the 40’s are normal temperatures for this time of the year but we have been in the 20’s and low 30’s but nicer weather is coming.  This coming Sunday the temperatures are to reach up into the 50’s.  I can’t wait!!!

On Monday evening, March 1, the monthly meeting of the Truro City Council convened. Fire Chief, Jeremy Ransom, gave his monthly update on the fire & rescue, Sheriff Craig Busch, gave his report of what his department had done in our town.  Jennifer Collins, President of the Truro Betterment Committee, told about what the Betterment Committee has been doing and what they have planned in the days ahead for Truro.  City Clerk updated the council on water and sewer rates and discussed the possibility of having to raise our rates as our rates are the lowest around. Many other things were discussed and they had a special speaker regarding our sanitary sewer system.  Please read the minutes of the meeting in another section of the paper by the City Clerk.

Kirby & Judie (Parker) Seibel of Bismarck, North Dakota visited in the home of Judie’s brother & wife, Dean & Mary Lou Parker.  They came back to pick up their RV that was repaired after it had broken down last November.  They were only here for a short visit.

The Truro Lion’s Club will be holding a breakfast on March 13 from 8-10 a.m. at the Truro Lion’s Hall. They will be serving make your own omelet, pancakes and biscuits and gravy.  Be sure to stop in and come hungry!
