INCIDENTS
A forgery was reported by 122 W. Jefferson St. on Feb. 22. According to police, Booth Law Firm received a fake check.
Criminal mischief was reported at 319 E. Ayers on Feb. 23.
ARRESTS
Rodney Lemke, 39, was charged with violating a no contact order on Feb. 21 and Feb. 22.
Joanna Irving, 35, was charged with violating a no contact order on Feb. 21.
ACCIDENTS
A vehicle parked on Adams Street during a snow ordinance was damaged. According to an accident report, Stephen Picken reported he noticed a dent on the driver's side corner panel of his vehicle on Feb. 20. The car was illegally parked because of the snow ordinance that was in effect. Estimated cost to repair the vehicle was $1,000.
Cristal Roush of Osceola was cited for failure to obey steady red after she allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of McLane and Main Street on Feb. 20. Roush told police she had a green light. Osceola resident Lowell Reynolds stated his light had turned yellow and he was unable to safely stop in time. A witness told police he was behind Roush's vehicle and the light was red when she proceeded through the intersection. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $500 apiece.
An accident occurred in the Clarke County Hospital parking lot on Feb. 19. Patricia Hailey of New Virginia was backing out ofa parking space when she struck the vehicle of Susan Wright of Lucas. Wright had pulled up behind Hailey to drop someone off. Damage to Hailey's vehicle was estimated at $100 and $1,000 to Wright's vehicle.
Kellerton resident Shanon Ebersole jumped a curb and went into a bush to avoid an accident on Feb. 19. Ebersole was traveling north on Main Street when the vehicle ahead of her stopped to turn left at Shaw Street. She swerved left to avoid hitting that car and in doing so nearly hit another vehicle that was traveling south on Main Street. She then went over the curb into a bush to avoid a collision. Damage is estimated at $4,000 to Ebersole's vehicle.
Osceola resident Eugene Coles had just turned out of Hy-Vee's parking lot when he was rear-ended on Feb. 22. According to a report, Coles was heading east when he was hit by Mitchell Harmsen of Osceola. Both vehicles were traveling east on Highway 34. Harmsen said he didn't have enough time to slow down to avoid hitting Coles' car because of bad road conditions. Estimated damage is $800 to Coles' car and $1,300 to Harmsen's vehicle.
Chariton resident Samantha Riekena was cited for not having insurance following an accident on Feb. 22. According to a report, Riekena was traveling west on Washington when she tried to stop at a stop sign and slid through it. Riekena said she sped up to avoid hitting a vehicle that was going north. In doing so, she hit Derschel Pennock's vehicle. Pennock was traveling south on Park Street. Damage is estimated at $2,000 to Riekena's vehicle and $1,000 to Pennock's vehicle.
