Ken Rudolph was the special speaker in Sunday school and the morning service last Sunday at the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles.  He is with the Association of Baptist for World Evangelism and is raising support to be on their mobilization team.  This means that he will be in America part of the year and in Europe part of the year.  Ken will assist in the planting of Churches in Europe as well as recruit missionaries to go to Europe to serve.  He is a wonderful speaker and will be speaking to people of all age groups but he will be especially speaking to youth rallies and family conferences.  It is hard for me to put into words what kind of a speaker he was but he is a humble and very tender hearted man who really loves the Lord and who has a real love and desire to show all people how God loves them.  He used examples that made us laugh in his sermon and you can tell our youth as well as us adults were really relating to what he was showing us through scriptures. The youth in the service that morning were very moved by his sermon and I found out later that they had heard Mr. Rudolph before when they visited Lake Ann Baptist Camp in Lake Ann, Michigan.  He is the high school speaker for the camp.

During the service a young man who would be leaving for the Army in three days got up to sing a song he had written the night before.  It wasn’t just a song; it was a prayer.  It was so touching and moving and had all of us in tears including Mr. Rudolph who I might add looked like he was six feet or more tall!

After the Church service a potluck was held in the Fellowship Hall for everyone who cared to stay.

The big talk all round town is the ice storm that we got struck by on Wednesday.  It closed schools down and people found it very difficult to get to work or they just stayed home.  Travel wasn’t advised.  City Hall was closed and the Library was closed.  Actually you were a lot safer to stay home than to venture out in it.
