Investigation of two deaths continues

Osceola police are investigating two unexplained deaths that occurred Nov. 7.

Chief Marty Duffus said police responded to a call at 7 p.m. at 116 N. Adams St. When they arrived at the residence, Robert Barnhart Jr., 27, and Shauna Rogers, 34, were already dead.

Autopsies are pending at Iowa State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny, said Duffus.

An autopsy is usually sent to Ankeny when the death is "unexplained, a public health concern, or when the county medical examiner wants to send them," Duffus said.

The results might take a while and the department is not releasing any additional information about the incidents, citing an ongoing investigation.

"This is an open investigation," Duffus said. "I don't have to make these cases public when they are open. I'm not going to speculate on anything."

Police have not made any arrests in connection with the deaths. Duffus wouldn't say if they had any suspects in custody or if they suspected foul play.

According to Duffus, Rogers and Barnhart were living at the residence at the time of their deaths.
