Daylight savings time ends on Nov. 1. Remember to turn your clock back before going to bed on October 31.  (Fall-back; spring-forward)

The Interstate 35 Communications Systems held their second class for all those wanting to improve or learn computer skills. They have a good group attending these classes that are held on the second Tuesday of each month. If interested in sitting in on these free classes, please call the I-35 Telephone office.

Mr. & Mrs. Dean Parker and grandchildren, Nicholas & Lauren Hagan, attended the annual fall cookout at their daughter/Aunt, Christy, and her husband, Mark’s, house in Indianola.  Potato, Asparagus & chili soup was served along with hotdogs. Other guests brought food to go along with the soup. It was a cool night but the fire that Mark built felt really warm. One guest brought a different dish and it was dates covered with bacon. It was very delicious and a very unusual combination. Also attending were Allan & Jane Brommel from Norwalk, Russ & Stacie Watrous & Taylor of Des Moines, George & Charlene Sankey, Randy & Beth Zimmerman all from Indianola, Diann Cooper of West Des Moines, Cindy Johnston, Clara & Curtis from Indianola and a couple of people who Mark works with at EDS but didn’t catch their names.

Julie (Patton) Morris and Mary Lou Parker visited with Fran Hoffman at West Bridge in Winterset last Monday. Fran is recovering from a case of meningitis. We took a picture of some of the fire & rescue members with us for her and she did recognize them and say their names so she is slowly improving. She looked good. Please remember Fran and her family in prayer. This has been a really rough time for them.

The Truro Lions will be holding their Saturday breakfast into November. On the first and third Saturday in November the breakfast will be held from 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Margaret Bryan and friends, Dick & Judy Bolton, of Atlantic, Iowa drove to Lexington, Ken. They stayed from Saturday until Wednesday with friends, Chuck & Esteva Cassem.  Judy, Margaret and Esteva have been friends since they first worked together at GMAC in 1966.
