This area was pleased to be blessed with two nice showers this week, a half inch on Thursday night and another half inch on Friday night.

Ten ladies donned their pretty hats and traveled to the Fitch Bed and Breakfast at St. Charles for a delicious luncheon served by Rick and Diane Fitch. Later, the ladies were given a tour of the Bed and Breakfast and enjoyed looking at the antiques throughout the rooms. Because they celebrated birthdays this month, Marilyn Evans, Bonnie Thomas and Sue Stills wore their purple hats for the occasion. Those who wore their red hats were: Judy Stills, Phyllis Stills, Jody Stills, Joanne Hoover, Shirley Zimmerline, Donna Conway and Arleen McCuddin.

Barb Kimzey of lndianola and Richard and Mary Jean Hatcher accompanied Merrill and Arleen McCuddin to Council Bluffs on Tuesday where they met Darrell and Melissa Jensen of Volga, S.D., and Paul and Joan Stuart. The friends enjoyed two nights together taking in all the fun things to do!

A new storage shed has been added at the back door of the United Methodist church this week. Kaufrman Structures of Weldon built the structure and moved it to the site on Thursday.

Everett Kephart has been busy at the site of his latest house project on Main Street. On Friday, much of the back filling was done around the house that was moved in and the new shingles are going on.

Rob and Donna Conway traveled to Sioux City on Sunday for a couple of days of visiting his sister Diane Reushling and family.

Donna Conway flew to Atlanta on Wednesday for a visit in the home other daughter Sheila and David Johnson and their seven daughters, Elizabeth, Lacie, Kayla, Natalie, Melissa, Faith and Adeline.

Brad and Sarah Smith and Elizabeth entertained his parents Merlyn and Ruth Ellen Smith of Newell over the weekend.

Seven ladies traveled to Des Moines on Monday where they volunteered their help at the Bidwell Riverside Center. Those who worked were: Nancy Spooner, Kathy Dolts, Jami McCuddin, Arleen McCuddin, Ruth Wood, Gertrude Benedict and Mary Jean Hatcher, who drove. The ladies wished Kathy a Happy Birthday as she celebrated the next day on Sept 29.
