Weldon has had wonderful summer weather this weekend for their Weldon School alumni.  I hope that this weather will continue so farmers can finish planting crops and haying.


The Country Club Ladies appreciated your wonderful support this spring. The lunches are discontinued for the summer. Our special thanks to Betty Savely and Avis Collins for real country cookin’.


Don Carson asks me to tell his friends “Hello, his health is greatly improved and he has flowers in the lunchroom.  He is also painting again.” We miss you Don.


Vicki Weakland of Boone visited her parents, Ted and Normalee Quayle, June 19-21.


The Weldon City Council minutes of the meeting for June have not been posted.


Skip and Mary Lou Landis from Westfield, Mass., Wanda Hachensmitt from Bertland, Colo., Jim and Elaine Canney from Kingland, Texas and Bob and Jody Strohm from Marshalltown are staying at the RV Park in Weldon. They are here for the Weldon School Banquet on Saturday.


Skip Landis, Bob Strom and Edward Hocksmith would like to thank the Leon Country Club for their fine hospitality and how much they were impressed by the volunteers who keep the course in such excellent condition.


Saturday and Sunday, Nancy Henrichson from Grinnell and Jerry Cory from Akron, Ohio came to visit their brother and sister, Jody Strohm and Skip Landis. On Sunday, they attended the Weldon Methodist Church.


Visitors in Betty Wallace home on June 23 were Sheral and Darrel Wallace of Chariton.  Mary Lou Landis from Massachusetts and Joan Strohm from Marshalltown visited Betty on June 24.


The Weldon Methodist Church held their monthly Meet and Eat Meeting June 23 at the Betty Wallace home. Those present were Pastor Lyle Ball, Marlyn Pearcy, Elaine Canney, Todd and Carolyn Carroll, Emett Joy and Carolyn Carroll.


Howard Bob Strohm, former Weldon resident, will celebrate his 90th birthday on June 29. Bob lives in Marshalltown. Years ago, he worked at Weldon for Harold Pearcy’s Grocery Store. Bob and Jody Strohm celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary June 1.


Skip and Mary Lou Landis are spending two weeks at the RV Park in Weldon. Skip graduated from Weldon School. Jody Strohm is his sister.
